Our History

Long before J&J Painting began, founder Jim Kunz learned how to paint while working with his uncle, who taught him by having him practice painting closets in the houses they were working in.

Jim went on to become a pastor. After having five children, one girl and four boys, he soon found out that he needed to put his painting skills back to work to keep up with the increasing grocery bill. Just as his uncle had taught him, Jim passed his skills onto his children, who helped him paint houses when they were not in school.

"Once you learn to make the closets look good, then we can trust you with the rest of the house," he told his children. As they grew up, they messed up a few closets, but they eventually caught on and mastered the Painters steady hand and sharp eye for detail.

In time, the business grew from summers and Saturdays to a full-time business. From the start, he founded J&J Painting on professional, high-quality work, while building long-lasting relationships with clients along the way.

Moreover, he taught his children - who became his partners - responsibility and how to do a quality paint job, yet, most importantly, how to treat each client with kindness and respect. J&J Painting has always valued that providing a service is not just about getting a job done but really about serving the people. Serving takes shape through respect, trust and completely meeting their needs.

In the early '90s, J&J Painting transitioned from being a paint company into a full-service painting and remodeling company, thus named J&J Painting and Remodeling. As it grew, the family-owned business had many clients needing more work than just painting; therefore, they began to work with quality craftsman who taught them how to do everything from the roof to the floor.

For more than 15 years, J&J Painting and Remodeling has been a full service contractor that can meet every need of every client. Yet alone, they cannot do everything; however, with the help of quality partners and professionals, they can oversee each project to ensure that every client's needs will be met.
